Second Track from Forthcoming Self-Titled EP, Out January 16 on Rise Records

Texas-based five-piece I Promised The World continue their rapid ascent with the release of “A Pure Expression,” the second single from their forthcoming self-titled EP, arriving January 16 via Rise Records. The song is accompanied by an official music video, offering a visual counterpart to its powerful evolution in sound and emotion.

Following their debut track “Bliss In 7 Languages,” the new single showcases the band’s ability to merge restraint with eruption. “A Pure Expression” begins with a patient, atmospheric build before breaking open into a dynamic surge of screamo, Midwest emo, and post-hardcore. Produced by Jon Markson (Drug Church, DRAIN, Stay Inside) and Adam Cichocki, the track leans heavily on texture, tension, and emotional interplay, juxtaposing moments of spacious quiet against crushing distortion and deeply felt vocals.

Formed in 2023, I Promised The World emerged from a place of profound loss after vocalist and guitarist Caleb Molina lost his father to COVID-19 in 2020. Though the band came together years later—completed by vocalist Hunter Wilson, drummer Mason Zschau, guitarist Mason Nowlin, and bassist Aidan Vickers—its roots remain tied to Molina’s grief. Today, the band channels that tragedy into defiance and celebration, honoring his father’s life through art that finds beauty in pain and catharsis in vulnerability.

Despite their short history, I Promised The World have already made a mark, sharing stages with Deafheaven, Midrit, and Koyo. With their forthcoming EP and newly announced headline tour, the band is poised to further expand their sound and story on their own terms.
