Los Angeles duo Twin Temple have released their new single “Nothing Matters” ahead of the October 9 digital release of their third album, DOOMED LOVERS. Produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Shooter Jennings, the album features lush orchestral arrangements, including a 37-piece orchestra.
“‘Nothing Matters’ was born out of the bleakest, lowest point of depression and apathy following a devastating loss, functioning as a modern day Gothic lament for a love that refuses to die,” note Twin Temple’s Alexandra and Zachary James. “Channeling a kind of Nihilistic and Byronic romanticism, the song tackles the abject feelings of hopelessness, disorientation, and loss of self that profound grief evokes. We wanted to make something beautiful out of that experience, pairing the tragic narrative weight with the lush, cinematic sweep of a 37-piece orchestra.”
DOOMED LOVERS was recorded at Sunset Sound’s Studio 3 in Hollywood and also features musicians Matt Chamberlain and Jay Bellerose. The album draws inspiration from the lush orchestral productions of Roy Orbison, The Ronettes, and The Shangri-Las, while incorporating Countrypolitan elements into Twin Temple’s dark, retro-inspired sound. The band describes the album as their most personal work to date.
Twin Temple have also announced a 2027 North American tour, beginning February 19 in Salt Lake City and concluding March 20 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. The tour includes a Chicago stop at Concord Music Hall on February 27. DOOMED LOVERS will be released digitally October 9 and on CD and vinyl October 23 via Secretly Distribution.
