Partywatcher Celebrates True Love in “AMOR DEL BUENO” – Song of the Day
Biography:
Chicago-based Latin soul-pop artist Jochy Saldivar releases and performs his heartfelt and feel-good music as partywatcher. Recently announcing his headline show and release celebration at Schubas on Friday, September 5th, one of the releases he’ll be celebrating is the new single “AMOR DEL BUENO.”
Jochy is big on collaboration and participating in Chicago’s music scene, something he learned while spending his teens and early 20s in the Dominican Republic’s alternative music scene. He also enlists local musicians such as members of Thompson Springs, jazz pianist Pat Leary, drummer Alex Santili from Late Nite Laundry (also in Thee Sacred Souls), to name just a few.
Since moving to Chicago and starting partywatcher in 2016, Jochy blends his musical upbringing under one name — the pop he grew up listening to from his mom and the more traditional styles like merengue and bachata from his dad.
The Chicago Reader previously featured partywatcher, where among other things Jochy spoke about where he finds the inspiration for his onstage persona. He told the Reader, “The most successful characters in pro wrestling are the guys that take their real-life personas and bump it up to 1,000.”
The new single also follows his previous single from this fall, “ESO YA NO VA” in May, and he’ll be sharing more singles and collaborations throughout the summer and fall.
