Tricky Launches First North American Tour in Eight Years at Riot Fest Friday

Legendary artist and producer Tricky will launch his first North American tour in eight years this Friday, September 18, with an appearance at Riot Fest in Chicago.
Tricky is scheduled to perform from 3:15 to 4 p.m. on the Rebel Stage before continuing on a North American run that includes stops in Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Atlanta and other cities.
The tour follows the July 17 release of Different When It’s Silent, Tricky’s 15th studio album and his first full-length release under his own name in six years. The album was released through his False Idols label and recorded between his home in France and sessions in Bristol.
Bristol vocalist Mitch Sanders features prominently throughout the album and will join the North American tour alongside longtime collaborator Marta Zlakowska. Zlakowska, who also appears on Different When It’s Silent, will open each show.
Across its 14 tracks, Different When It’s Silent brings together elements of blues, hip-hop, distorted guitar and electronic music while reconnecting with the distinctive sound Tricky established with his landmark debut, Maxinquaye.
Following Friday’s Riot Fest performance, the tour continues through October 16, concluding at III Points Festival in Miami.
