SOFIA ISELLA, the unsettling feminist artist bringing alternative art rock into a contemporary pop landscape, has released her new EP Something is a shell . This third independently released project marks the latest chapter in Isella’s evolving canon, arriving after a banner year that carried her from viral momentum to sold-out rooms and arena stages worldwide. The EP launches alongside the video for “The Chicken Is Naked And Afraid.” Conceptualized and directed by Isella, the visual leans into the 21-year-old music prodigy’s dark humor and absurdist imagery, unfolding as a montage of sensory-distorting scenes.

Something is a shell . channels a visceral, unflinching vision of feminist hyper-realism, drawing listeners into a world where the horror and complexity of womanhood are laid bare. Blending her love of pop with the raw edge of industrial influence, the project moves between cool detachment and emotional detonation—often within the same song—as her vocals shift from restrained to explosive. Across the EP, Isella challenges notions of femininity and safety, confronting the normalization of violence and control while insisting that things are not okay. The result is a body of work that uses music as a vehicle to expose, interrogate, and reclaim power.
Since 2024, Sofia Isella has steadily built an uncompromising catalog through releases such as I Can Be Your Mother (2024) and I’m Camera (2025), which featured the haunting single “Muse.” Across her work, she has amassed more than 150 million streams worldwide while carving out a space defined by bold textures, piercing lyricism, and a refusal to soften her vision for comfort.
