(December 11, 2025) — GENA, the newly formed collaboration between Liv.e and Karriem Riggins, announces their debut album The Pleasure Is Yours, set for release on February 27 via Lex Records. The pair first teased a deeper creative partnership earlier this year through a series of one-off performances under the enigmatic moniker GENA at New York’s Nublu and the Detroit Jazz Festival. They formally introduced the project last month with their first official single, “Circlesz,” which drew acclaim from Stereogum, Pitchfork, Pigeons & Planes, and Billboard, who wrote, “we most certainly aren’t worthy of such a jam.”
Alongside today’s album announcement, GENA unveil a new single, “HOWWEFLOW,” accompanied by a music video directed by Mackai Sharp. One of the album’s more understated cuts, “HOWWEFLOW” leans into the duo’s hip-hop influences, weaving a looped, echoing chorus with the instinctive chemistry of Liv.e and Karriem’s complementary styles.
GENA will return to the stage on January 31 for a headline performance at ICA in London, following earlier appearances in New York and Detroit, as well as Karriem’s special guest appearance during Liv.e’s set on Earl’s 3LW tour.
A testament to their kinetic synergy, The Pleasure Is Yours captures a real-time dialogue between two artists discovering shared musical language. The album traverses soul, hip-hop, and R&B with fluid, genre-bending imagination—pairing silky melodies and warm nostalgia with forward-leaning production ideas. Recorded across a series of virtual sessions, the project also features contributions from Isaiah Sharkey, James Francies, and Telemakus. The result is a body of work that feels both analog and ethereal, mirroring the dynamic exchange that shaped it.
