CHICAGO, IL (SEPTEMBER 22, 2025) – Riding high off a milestone summer, Chicago hip-hop trailblazer G Herbo returns with “Reason,” the powerful first single from his highly anticipated forthcoming album, Lil Herb. The track is out now on all platforms, accompanied by its official video — watch here:
Directed by LVTRKevin, the “Reason” visual follows Herbo through the city streets in foreign cars before bringing it home to 79th & Essex, where an outpouring of love underscores both his roots and his undeniable impact. Produced by platinum-selling hitmaker Don Cannon, the explosive single finds Herbo at his most commanding, tearing into the beat with authority. With lines like “Everybody got a bag and I’m the reason in my section,” he reasserts why his presence matters — he’s the reason. Following the success of “Went Legit,” which recently earned RIAA Gold certification, “Reason” marks a bold new chapter as Herbo prepares to usher in Lil Herb with unshakable determination.
Earlier this month, the Chicago heavyweight also revealed plans for his 1st Annual Birthday Bash, happening Saturday, October 26th at the city’s iconic Wintrust Arena. Presented by 150 Dreamteam and BMN Entertainment, the event — fittingly titled Swerv & Friends — promises a one-night-only celebration packed with electrifying performances and surprise guests. Hosted in partnership with 107.5 WGCI, the show will bring music, culture, and community together on one of Chicago’s biggest stages, cementing the moment as a true hometown celebration for G Herbo and his fans. ABOUT G HERBO:
Platinum-selling rapper Herbert “G Herbo” Wright has endured a season of close calls and losing several of his closest friends to senseless gun violence in his native Chicago. All of this was channeled into his critically acclaimed double album, Survivor’s Remorse in 2022, which Rolling Stone called, “another potent look into his rattled, conflicted psyche that also doubles as a celebration of his 10-year run as one of the most enduring young rappers to come out of Chicago’s drill scene.”
Following up from his 2023 mixtape, Strictly For My Fans 2, and earning Platinum and Gold plaques for Nardo Wick’s “Who Want Smoke” and his late friend Young Dolph’s “One Scale” that same year, Herbo aims to reach his full potential as an artist with his celebratory offering for the summertime, Big Swerv. The album is executive produced by longtime collaborators Southside and Big Oz. G Herbo’s four albums, PTSD, 25, Swervo, and his debut, Humble Beast, all reached the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.
Most recently, Herbo released Greatest Rapper Alive, exclusively through the G Herbo App, and continues to cement his status as a force in hip-hop. The launch of the Greatest Rapper Alive on the app resulted in a staggering 13 million direct-to-fan streams and over 140,000 app downloads, catapulting it to #3 among all music apps, trailing only industry giants Spotify and YouTube.
Now available on streaming services, both “Greatest Rapper Alive” and “Welcome to Fazoland 2” peaked at #5 and #6, respectively, on Apple Music, while “Went Legit” landed in the Top 50 on the songs chart and has since been certified Gold by the RIAA in just 8 months. Stay tuned for more music and surprises as he further solidifies his legacy.
