“Above the Neck” arrives on the heels of ISELLA’s North American You’ll Understand More, Dick tour and the announcement of select Florence + The Machine support dates, including Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center, and more. The headline run ignited a frenzy of fans from New York to Los Angeles, with lines wrapping around the block ahead of her visceral, cathartic performances. A classically trained violinist and poet, Isella draws inspiration from Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton, channeling an artful, incandescent rage that situates her within a lineage of unapologetic women like PJ Harvey, Courtney Love, and the firestorm of ’90s grrrl-punk.
Isella’s foundation in literature and music fuels a style rooted in vivid storytelling and cinematic, layered production — a collision of discipline and raw expression that she has honed since childhood. A lifelong performer, she began violin at age three and has continued writing, playing, and redefining her sound ever since. Her current live show underscores her ambition and range: bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, violin, and keys — all played by ISELLA over the course of the set.
