Twenty One Pilots: An Incredible And Inclusive Concert Experience Like No Other!

On September 24th, 2025, Twenty One Pilots returned to Chicago, bringing The Clancy Tour: Breach, to Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre in Tinley Park.

This perfect night began with a short, but fan-favorite-filled set from Austin band Dayglow. Their blend of indie-pop music was perfect for the end-of-summer vibes in this outdoor venue and saw many in the audience dancing from their seats throughout the set. The highlight song was, of course, “Can I Call You Tonight” from their 2019 album, Fuzzybrain.
When Twenty One Pilots’ set began, the crowd was psyched and fully charged. As the lights dimmed and the crowd erupted, red lights beamed from the stage with a vocal drone accompanying it.
The video screens on the side of the stage began showing imagery relating to Clancy, Dema, and the whole lore that has developed with the band over the years. It’s fairly involved, so much so that fans even received physical letters in the mail that included “evidence” and deeper details into the world of Clancy. If you’re not familiar with it, look it up on YouTube; it’s quite impressive.
The opening sounds of “Overcompensate” started inciting the crowd to scream excitedly as Josh Dun walked on stage wearing a mask over his face with lights for eyes shining red. Wasting no time, he took to his drum throne, laying down the beat to further crowd screams as the red stage lights bathe the stage.
A brief pause is met with a bang as a masked Tyler Joseph, singer and multi-instrumentalist, leaped from the side stage off the top of his piano, landing swiftly on stage as the crowd’s excitement peaked.
The song continued, Tyler picked up his mic from the drum riser, and everyone in the venue could be heard singing word-for-word along with him.
The last time the band performed in Chicago was two nights at the United Center, almost a year ago now. As much as we love the United Center, Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre, with its open-air design, allowed them more freedom and spaces to perform and connect with fans, making it more immersive and totally unforgettable.
After the songs “Overcompensate,” “The Contract,” and “RAWFEAR,” fans were featured in a video montage that was filmed earlier outside the venue. Showing off their unique makeup, fashion, and artistic creations, it was truly a special way to celebrate the fans who have supported the band all these years.
The video led into “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV” from their 2015 Blurryface album. With masks removed, they encouraged fans to sing “Yeah, yeah, yeah” and clap along during this fun, upbeat song.
For “Tear In My Heart,” Tyler divided the venue into two halves and challenged fans to sing louder and prouder. It seemed Josh’s side was the winner, but it immediately flowed right into the song. Everyone kept singing along, not minding who the winners were in the end, focusing instead on having a good time.

Musically, the duo played their instruments flawlessly, as you’d expect, and they sometimes switched instruments during the same song. Tyler often went from ukulele to piano and back, then played bass in another. Likewise, Josh went from drums to electronic pads and even a trumpet throughout the night.
Their stage presence kept the audience thoroughly engaged through every moment of the family-friendly performance, running a close second to their talent. There are not too many artists who interact with their fans during their show as much as they do.
Before and during the song, “Routines In The Night,” Josh and Tyler took a nice stroll through the aisles from the main stage to a secondary stage in the back. As they made their way, they high-fived and fist-bumped fans, paying closer attention to the kids in the audience, leaving many fans in exhilarated disbelief.
From this stage, Josh played on his second drum kit and Tyler sang atop a full-size abandoned car, which was eventually set on a (controlled) fire.
Playing songs “Message Man,” “Pet Cheetah,” “Polarize,” and “Chlorine,” Tyler greeted more fans and met up with some super die-hard fans who were dressed up as Ned (long story) for a music video-style gathering. As he continued stageward, Tyler collapsed as the lights dimmed…
Enter the Torchbearer (a.k.a. Josh), carrying a fan autographed flag with Tinley Park written on it and a torch, the Torchbearer solemnly walked the aisles back to the main stage and in a lone stage light, the black back curtain behind them suddenly dropped, revealing the world of Dema with what appeared to be silos with a row of flames in the foreground and a distant horizon in the background.
Josh placed the Tinley Park flag over his bass drum, Tyler returned to the stage, and they performed “Jumpsuit,” “Nico And The Niners,” “Heavydirtysoul,” “The Line,” “Garbage,” “Doubt (Demo version),” “Ride,” and concluded with “Drum Show.”
During this set, A lucky fan in the audience had their phone borrowed for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, having it handed to Josh, who filmed the view from the stage before handing it back to them.
Then, with bass in hand, Tyler went out for another stroll to two mini stages set up in front of the lawn section, giving fans yet another opportunity to see them up close.
As “Ride” finished, Tyler spoke with the parents of a young man named Nello, who was given a truly amazing opportunity to take the stage with Tyler and Josh to reprise “Ride” once again.
There were so many incredible moments not even mentioned (hint, islands), but that will be for you to discover and be amazed with when you see them come to your city.
The whole experience was beyond incredible, and two hours never went so fast. If I had to pick one thing that stood out as the best part of the show, it would be the inclusiveness. Being up close with Josh and Tyler, even if for a moment, and being a part of the whole show experience made it far more than just a concert.
Whether you’re a casual fan or deeply into the lore, Twenty One Pilots have something for everyone and an experience you’ll never forget.
