Multidisciplinary artist Hyd (Hayden Dunham) has announced the forthcoming album Hold Onto Me Infinity, arriving May 22 via Cascine. Moving between the intimate and the infinite, the record reflects on music’s ability to stretch across time, physical boundaries, and lifetimes—existing somewhere between the tangible world and whatever lies beyond it.
Alongside the announcement, Hyd shares the new single “Angel.” Produced by Hudson Mohawke, a key collaborator throughout the album, the track was written by Dunham and Benny Long. “Angel” imagines a loved one after death as a guardian presence, posing a question that echoes across the album: where do the dead go, and how do they continue to exist in new forms? The song arrives with a video directed by Tourmaline, with creative direction by Bobbi Salvor Menuez, movement direction by Monica Mirabile, editing by Hedia Maron, and cinematography by Aimee Goguen.
Hold Onto Me Infinity leans into a tactile, drum-forward sonic palette designed to be felt physically as much as heard. That sense of embodiment extends to the album artwork, photographed by Michael Bailey Gates, which explores the liminal space between the existential and elemental. Created without artificial effects, the image incorporates a glass sculpture by Dunham, pyrotechnics, mirrored reflections, and a sunset shining through a pierced window—forming a portal that bridges this world and another.
The analog process also reflects Dunham’s lived experience. Over the past seven years, intermittent loss of vision made them highly sensitive to artificial light, shaping both the production choices and visual direction of the project. During periods when sight receded, other sensory perceptions intensified; when it returned, Dunham described feeling more deeply embodied in the physicality—and vitality—of being.
Hold Onto Me Infinity follows Dunham’s acclaimed debut CLEARING. Drawing from Hyd’s broader multidisciplinary practice, the music emerges from a blend of introspective research, collaborative dialogue, and material experimentation. Beyond music, Dunham’s work as a fine artist has been exhibited at institutions including MoMA PS1 and New Museum. A forthcoming exhibition at Company Gallery is set to open April 30 in New York.
