GRAMMY® Winner Laufey Unveils “Snow White” — A Bold, Unflinching New Single & Video Ahead of Her Most Daring Album Yet

Today, GRAMMY®-winning Icelandic-Chinese artist, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Laufey returns with a powerful new single, “Snow White” — an intoxicating blend of elegance and edge. The track takes aim at the relentless chase for perfection that women face, offering a raw and reflective look in the mirror.
Accompanied by a visually stunning official music video — filmed entirely in her breathtaking homeland of Iceland and directed by her twin sister and creative director Junia Lin — “Snow White” sets the stage for Laufey’s most fearless era yet.
The single is the latest taste of her highly anticipated third album, A Matter of Time, dropping August 22 via Vingolf Recordings / AWAL. This new chapter finds Laufey at her freest, crafting a sonic journey that’s part timeless jazz-classical fusion, part boundary-breaking exploration.
A New Chapter for a Timeless Voice
For Laufey, every album is a blank page. 2022’s Everything I Know About Love captured coming-of-age adventures and the ache of leaving home. 2023’s GRAMMY®-winning Bewitched dove deep into the ecstasy and heartache of young love — wrapped in sweeping orchestral arrangements, bossa nova touches, and her signature honeyed alto.
With A Matter of Time, Laufey is pulling back the curtain even further. She preserves her beloved jazz and classical roots while abandoning rigid rules, teaming with returning collaborator Spencer Stewart and first-time co-producer Aaron Dessner (Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran) to create something that’s both intimate and unrestrained.
The result? A daring, playful, and deeply vulnerable record that redefines what “real love” sounds like — in all its beauty, chaos, and imperfection.
Taking Over the Stage — and the World
The A Matter of Time Tour has already made history, selling over 250,000 tickets in its initial on-sale. Highlights include:
Kicking off next month, the tour will see Laufey bring her enchanting, theatrical live show to her biggest North American venues yet — a mesmerizing blend of musicianship, storytelling, and visual artistry.
From Reykjavik to the World Stage
Pronounced “lay-vay,” Laufey has built an empire by reimagining jazz and classical music for a new generation, bridging the gap between timeless icons like Chet Baker, Carole King, and Ravel and millions of young listeners discovering these sounds for the first time.
Raised between Reykjavik and Washington, D.C., she began on piano and cello before honing her craft at Berklee College of Music — where she penned her debut EP Typical of Me, scoring a No. 1 hit on Icelandic Radio with “Street by Street.” Since then, she has racked up:
Her sold-out performances have graced the Hollywood Bowl, Radio City Music Hall, and London’s Royal Albert Hall. She’s collaborated with legends like Barbra Streisand, Norah Jones, and Beabadoobee, performed with the LA Phil and the National Symphony Orchestra, and shared stages with Jon Batiste and Raye.
This year, she also launched The Laufey Foundation to support young musicians, with $1 from every A Matter of Time Tour ticket going directly toward youth orchestras and music programs.
A Matter of Time arrives August 22. “Snow White” is available everywhere now.
