Gabriela Richardson unveils her debut album ISOLA, a deeply immersive body of work shaped by origin, movement, and self-discovery. At its heart lies the metaphor of the island — both a point of departure and a place of arrival. Gabriela’s story begins in Ibiza, where her parents met in the 1980s, and comes full circle in New York City, where ISOLA was completed — another island long defined by creative intensity. The title, Italian for “island,” captures this duality and global sensibility, reflecting Gabriela’s fluid movement between Spanish, Italian, French, and English throughout the record.

Rather than centering on a single geography, ISOLA unfolds as a constellation of sonic islands connected by shared waters. Gabriela draws from 1970s Brazilian music, Iberian folk traditions, and broader Latin influences, collaborating with artists encountered through travel and lived experience, including Lewis Ofman, Rejjie Snow, Raül Refree, and Pierre Rousseau.

Following earlier releases that achieved gold certifications across ten countries and diamond certifications in Mexico, France, Spain, and Belgium — including the global breakout “Hundred Miles” — ISOLA reveals a more introspective and exploratory dimension of her artistry. “Mononoke” stands as the first track Gabriela fully composed and produced herself, marking a significant step toward creative autonomy.

Inspired by artists such as Arthur Verocai, Gal Costa, and Ornella Vanoni, the album opens with a tribute to the Virgen de la Morena and affirms sisterhood on “Mujer Templo.” With ISOLA, Gabriela Richardson steps decisively into her own artistic world — grounded in her heritage while boldly shaping what comes next.
