They were pioneers of the underground alternative-rock scene before it was cool. \nThe beloved cult band’s acoustic-driven folk-punk sound was original and immediately recognizable. Their stripped-down approach conveyed a sense of urgency and raw emotion. \nIt took a while\, but the band’s infectious\, jittery brilliance could not be denied. After their emergence\, they released their debut album\, Violent Femmes. From start to finish\, this platinum-selling LP remains a stone-cold classic. \nFull of angst-ridden anthems\, their collection of 10 studio albums provides a rich repertoire of music. Several tracks have been featured in movies and on TV to evoke ’80s nostalgia or quirky\, restless energy. \nNow\, a bit older and wiser\, the Femmes happily celebrate their 45th year together.
