Biography:
No Lonesome is the DIY project of Chicago-based musician and producer, Jeb Backe. Their mixed-fidelity sound shows a forward-thinking ear while flexing a studied understanding of what has come before. Backe is an ongoing collaborator with musicians Smushie, Astrachan, and Berta Bigtoe in the Chicago music scene.
As described in the Chicago Reader, “No Lonesome […] makes songs whose leisurely, swaggering saunter lends itself equally well to country, folk, and indie rock”. And while No Lonesome’s local following continues to grow, so too does their international support— as seen in Australian publication, Happy Mag, remarking “Through their soulful and tender melodies, adorned with lush instrumentation and emotive vocals, No Lonesome weaves a musical tapestry that feels both nostalgic and timeless.”
In the upcoming EP release, Am I What I’m Not?, No Lonesome has pushed that musical tapestry into a punchier territory. With driving percussion and an uncompromising voice, these tracks thematically span from inward, precise observation all the way to infinite cosmic release.
