Cobrah Drops Explosive Track “Dog” Before Highly Anticipated Album Torn, Announces April 30 Chicago Show

Experimental pop provocateur Cobrah unleashes her final pre-album single, “Dog,” ahead of the release of Torn this Friday via Atlantic Records. The track arrives alongside an in-depth conversation with Zane Lowe on New Music Daily for Apple Music, offering insight into one of her most confrontational and revealing songs to date.
On “Dog,” Cobrah oscillates between emotional guardedness and raw exposure. “Breaks the softness. It’s a ‘fuck me’ song, there’s no singing, it’s quite rough and graphic,” she explains. Beneath its abrasive delivery and shadowy, gothic production, however, lies an unexpected confession: a longing for permanence and intimacy, and a desire to stay with a lover until the “grave.” It marks the first time she has openly articulated that vulnerability within her music.
Written and creatively directed entirely by Cobrah, Torn pairs her most intimate songwriting to date with striking visual vignettes and high-impact, club-driven production. The album captures an artist expanding her sonic and emotional vocabulary without compromising the provocative edge that defines her work.
To celebrate the release, Cobrah will embark on an expansive North American and European tour. The run kicks off at Treefort Music Fest in Boise, Idaho, before continuing through Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, and New York. She will then head overseas for dates in London, Berlin, and Paris in May. Cobrah is also set to make her debut appearance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this April.
Torn finds Cobrah stretching her vocal range into sultrier, more melodic territory—an evolution from the seductive sing-speak of her earlier releases that mirrors her growing emotional openness. “I have a melodic language that I haven’t used before until now,” she says. “Before it was too personal for me to show it, I didn’t feel strong enough.”
Reuniting with longtime collaborators Isac Hördegård and Hannes Roovers—who have been part of her creative orbit since her 2019 debut single “IDFKA”—Cobrah also broadens her production palette. New contributors include Illangelo (known for his work with The Weeknd), Machinedrum, and Tove Burman, who previously co-wrote “New Woman” for Rosalía and Lisa.
