BABY QUEEN makes a powerful return today with her new single “I Hope You Don’t Remember Me,” out now via Arista Records and Insanity Records. The track marks the first taste of new music from the South African-born, London-based singer-songwriter’s forthcoming second studio album, which is set to be announced soon.
A scintillating bait-and-switch pop anthem, “I Hope You Don’t Remember Me” walks a tightrope between bitterness and forgiveness. Flipping the script on traditional heartbreak ballads that fear fading into obscurity, the song instead positions forgetting as an act of defiance — or at least survival.
Speaking about her new single, Baby Queen says, “This song is about an urge to revoke my memory from somebody else’s mind after perceived rejection (partly in defiance and partly out of shame) and have them be erased from my own in return.
Whilst writing it, I was still trying to convince myself of what I was saying. I think a lot of the emotion comes from the fact that a big part of me didn’t want to be forgotten, and knew I wouldn’t forget.”
Following an intensely emotional chapter in London, Baby Queen — born Bella Latham — relocated first to New York and then Los Angeles, where she began shaping the follow-up to her Top 5 debut album Quarter Life Crisis. There, she connected with producer Alex Casnoff, forging a creative partnership rooted in instinct and mutual understanding. Working across sessions in LA and London, the pair have crafted a bold new body of work that finds Baby Queen embracing a raw, visceral sound — immediate, unfiltered, and unapologetically direct.
About Baby Queen
After moving from South Africa to London at 18, Baby Queen (Bella Latham) quickly rose to prominence as a fiery totem for a generation disillusioned by social media and other modern pressures. From the sharp-edged cynicism of her 2020 debut Medicine EP to the cinematic storytelling of 2021’s The Yearbook mixtape, her rapid ascent was further solidified by the breakout success of ‘Colours of You’ for Netflix’s Heartstopper and a tour with Olivia Rodrigo. The release of her critically acclaimed Top 5 debut album Quarter Life Crisis in 2023 cemented Baby Queen as one of the most compelling new voices in alt-pop.
